This international conference will explore new models of collaboration between the European Union and China focused on World Heritage. This one-day event will present the project “World Heritage Travel in the EU”, jointly funded by the EU and UNESCO / National Geographic.
The conference will go beyond theoretical partnership models for tourism and culture to show how World Heritage sites can increase their visibility and enhance their tourism offering by establishing trans-regional routes. It will present practical innovations in terms of an integrated approach to sustainable tourism development, joint governance of routes between World Heritage sites, etc.
It will also examine how EU and Chinese World Heritage sites are benefiting from sustainable tourism to enhance the conservation and promotion of World Heritage sites and the growth and well-being of local communities. High level remarks followed by animated round tables. Heads of European heritage agencies and heads of tourism councils.
